Abstract

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in fire incidents caused by gas leaks, leading to severe disasters and loss of life due to explosions resulting from gas leakage. These incidents are largely attributed to the absence of adequate detection and protection systems designed to prevent such disasters. This paper presents the design of an early warning system prototype for a smart building (such as a house or workshop) using Arduino technology as the control platform. The proposed model integrates several technologies that are well suited to our local environment and the economic conditions of individuals, making the system affordable and accessible to everyone without the high costs associated with existing commercial systems. These technologies include the Internet of Things (IoT), Wi-Fi technology, social media platforms, and software engineering techniques to enable remote monitoring and control of gas leakage hazards. The proposed system aims to enhance safety by automatically responding to environmental changes, such as detecting gas leaks, triggering real-time alarms, and sending warning messages whenever a gas leak is detected. Furthermore, the system demonstrates the ability of a smart building to interact intelligently with its surrounding environment based on sensor data, thereby ensuring the safety of people first and protecting equipment from the consequences of gas leak-related accidents, such as explosions or fires.
