Plagiarism Policy

The Scientific Journal for Publishing in Health Research and Technology (SJPHRT) is committed to publishing original research of the highest ethical standards. Plagiarism, in all its forms, is strictly prohibited and constitutes a serious violation of academic integrity.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the act of presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct Copying: Reproducing text, figures, tables, or data from another source without citation.

  • Paraphrasing without Acknowledgment: Restating someone else's ideas in your own words without proper attribution.

  • Self-Plagiarism (Text Recycling): Reusing significant portions of your own previously published work without proper citation and acknowledgment.

  • Mosaic Plagiarism: Combining copied phrases and original words without proper citation.

  • Improper Attribution: Failing to cite sources correctly or completely.

2. Plagiarism Detection

  • Software Screening: All submitted manuscripts to SJPHRT will undergo rigorous screening for plagiarism using Turnitin plagiarism detection software.

  • Acceptable Similarity Index: A manuscript will be considered for further review only if its overall similarity index, as reported by Turnitin, is less than 25%. This percentage excludes common terms and references.

  • Reporting: Authors will be informed if their manuscript exceeds the acceptable similarity threshold and will be given an opportunity to revise their submission (at the discretion of the editorial board, for minor cases only).

3. Consequences of Plagiarism

In cases where plagiarism is detected, SJPHRT will take appropriate actions, which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Immediate Rejection: The manuscript will be immediately rejected from consideration.

  • Publication Withdrawal: If the article has already been published, it will be immediately retracted from the journal's website and all indexing databases.

  • Author Blacklisting: The authors may be banned from submitting future manuscripts to SJPHRT for a specified period or indefinitely.

  • Notification to Institutions: The authors' institutions, ethics committees, and/or funding bodies may be notified of the plagiarism incident.

4. Author Responsibility

It is the sole responsibility of the authors to ensure that their submitted manuscript is entirely original and that all sources are properly cited and attributed according to the journal's guidelines. Authors are encouraged to use plagiarism detection tools themselves before submission.

By submitting a manuscript to SJPHRT, authors confirm that the work is original and free from plagiarism.
